Hands-on projects
Exercises build toward portfolio-ready work instead of isolated syntax practice.
Service Request App
Design objects, permissions, validation, Flow automation and reports for a business request process.
LWC Operations Console
Build a responsive interface using Lightning Data Service, GraphQL or Apex with filtering and error handling.
Integration Capstone
Connect an external service through a Named Credential, test callouts and document a source-driven deployment.

Read Our Google ReviewsSkills you should be able to demonstrate
- Translate a business requirement into an appropriate data model, access model and automation approach.
- Write readable, bulk-safe and tested Apex that respects platform limits and user access.
- Build Lightning Web Components and select among Lightning Data Service, GraphQL and Apex for data access.
- Design authenticated integrations and event-driven solutions with failure handling in mind.
- Manage metadata in Git, validate changes, run code-quality checks and deploy through controlled environments.
- Present a working capstone with technical documentation and explain key design decisions in an interview.
From a business request to tested Apex and LWC
Use the Apex governor limits guide to review collection-based processing, then follow the Lightning Web Components learning roadmap for component structure, data access and testing. These reading guides connect the backend and interface topics in the syllabus.
Use this fictional service-request exercise to connect the syllabus topics. A support team needs a console for reviewing requests and sending approved updates to an external service. This is a practice scenario, not a claim about a client project.
- Choose the implementation: map the objects and access requirements first. Explain which steps suit standard configuration or Flow and where custom Apex or an LWC is justified.
- Handle a batch: test the same logic with one request and with a collection. Gather related IDs, query related data together, and perform collection-based updates instead of issuing SOQL or DML for every record in a loop.
- Check access: distinguish record sharing from object and field permissions. Review the class API version and explicit access modes; a successful administrator test does not demonstrate that another user has appropriate access.
- Explain failures: show how the console handles validation errors and how the integration handles a failed response. Use a callout mock to make the test reproducible.
- Make the work reviewable: include assertions, sample test data, deployment notes and a README explaining the design choices. A screenshot alone does not explain the backend behaviour.

Choose the developer path for programmatic customisation
This course focuses on Apex, LWC, APIs, testing and delivery. If your main goal is org configuration, user access, reports and declarative automation, compare the Salesforce Administrator course. Administrators moving into development can use their platform knowledge while building additional programming skills.
Who this course is for
Good fit
Students, graduates, software developers, Salesforce administrators and professionals moving into Salesforce development.
Recommended prerequisites
Basic programming logic and familiarity with databases are helpful. Beginners can start with the foundation modules before moving into Apex and JavaScript.
Learning tools
Salesforce Developer Edition or Trailhead Playground, VS Code, Salesforce Extensions, Salesforce CLI, Git and API testing tools.
Learning format
Concept explanation, trainer-led demonstration, guided lab, independent task, review and capstone milestones.
Platform Developer certification preparation
The course reinforces the four current Platform Developer exam domains: Developer Fundamentals; Process Automation and Logic; User Interface; and Testing, Debugging and Deployment. Preparation includes topic review, scenario discussion and practice tasks. Salesforce controls the exam, registration, fees, policies and credential award; training does not guarantee a passing result.
Salesforce Developer training FAQs
Is this a beginner-friendly Salesforce developer course?
Yes. The first modules establish platform, data, security and automation foundations before programming begins. Learners without coding experience should allow additional practice time for Apex and JavaScript.
Does the syllabus teach Lightning Web Components?
Yes. LWC is the primary custom user-interface framework in this syllabus. Three modules cover foundations, Salesforce data access, component communication, accessibility, performance and testing concepts.
Why are Visualforce and Aura still included?
Many established Salesforce orgs still contain Visualforce pages or Aura components. The course treats them as maintenance and interoperability skills while emphasizing LWC for new component development.
Are Agentforce and Data 360 included?
Yes, at foundation level. Coverage focuses on developer concepts, actions, grounding, testing, data access and responsible use. Hands-on availability depends on licences and the provisioned training org.
Will I build a project?
Yes. The learning path includes guided builds and a capstone that combines data modelling, Apex, LWC, testing, integration and deployment documentation.
Does the course prepare me for the Platform Developer certification?
It supports preparation for the Salesforce Platform Developer exam through aligned concepts and practice. Candidates should also use the latest official Salesforce exam guide and Trailhead resources before booking an exam.
How is Salesforce Developer training different from Administrator training?
The developer course focuses on Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, APIs, testing and deployment. Administrator training focuses on configuring the org, user access, reports and declarative automation. Platform knowledge helps in both paths, but developer work adds programming and code review.
Does the course cover bulk-safe Apex and governor limits?
Yes. The syllabus includes collection-based Apex, SOQL and DML patterns, trigger design, asynchronous processing and tests with multiple records. Practice includes explaining how a design handles platform limits and avoids database operations inside record-by-record loops.
